beards are in?

So this article claims. Well, sort of...
No survey ever conducted about women's attitudes toward beards, even those not underwritten by the Gillette Company, has indicated that more than 2 or 3 percent of women would describe a full beard as sexy...

That a full beard can suddenly look right — or, more accurately, not so awful — illustrates how quickly ideals of masculinity can change.

I am just curious if women ever liked handlebar moustaches. Or moustaches at all. And why do all arab men in the middle east have moustaches? Yuck.

I'm definitely not part of that "2 or 3 percent of women," and not a fan of facial hair in general. Goatees and moustaches are the worst. Although there are exceptions, like Rhett Butler's moustache in Gone with the Wind...

My wife won't let me shave it off. If I even trim it too close, she tells me that it makes my nose and ears too big and my chin too small.

But I think she's just used to it. People who shave off their beards just don't look right...for a while anyway.

Ah, but yours is not the "full beard" discussed in the article...

Which leads me to one of the exceptions: a bit of a beard can make some people look distinguished (doctors, professors, baby-faced twenty-somethings who want to look older...), and then it's not "so awful."

I happen to agree with you. But my wife seems to like the beard more when it is fuller. When I trim it down she gives me tzoris.

Maybe it's too prickly then.

Perhaps your wife is part of the "2 or 3 percent then" :)

In many ways.
